'A time for action': DC man and catering company work together to feed Afghan refugees

The images of Afghans desperately clinging to the chance for a fresh start in a new land resonated with Washington, D.C.'s shadow Representative Oye Owolewa.

 

The images of Afghans desperately clinging to the chance for a fresh start in a new land resonated with Washington, D.C.'s shadow Representative Oye Owolewa. That's why he's partnering with William Weaver, the owner of Marty's Food and Catering out of Southeast D.C. Together, they plan to distribute dozens of meals to the Afghan refugees.


"It really made me realize that it's just a time for action," Owolewa said. "When I saw the people in Virginia welcome them with open arms, those are times in our opportunity as DC residents to also make an impact."
